Wieck Media Services Focuses On Marketing Cost-Effective Media Delivery Systems To Public Relations Agencies

Hires Veteran Communciations Pro Bruce Bakke To Market Services

DALLAS (April 26, 2001)-- In a move that reflects a new focus on marketing its cost-effective media delivery systems to public relations agencies, Wieck Media Services has hired veteran newsman and public relations practitioner Bruce Bakke as its sales manager/agencies.

Wieck Media Services, which pioneered the delivery of news and high-resolutions images over the Internet, enables its clients to give publications access to ready-to-publish files without producing costly hard-copy press kits.

"It's clear that electronic distribution of all multimedia - print, imaging, voice, video, graphics - is becoming the way to go for many companies," company chairman James Wieck said. "Not only does it save money in reproduction costs, it makes company information more accessible to the media and much easier to reproduce."

In fact, more than 3,800 media representatives have name/password access to files in the Wieck database. One client, a major automaker, estimates that Wieck's services save it approximately $2 million a year in delivery costs.

"While most of our business in recent years has been focused on individual companies, we know this is an ideal resource for public relations agencies," Wieck said. "That's where Bruce comes in. His combined experience as a newsman and his experience in public relations makes him the ideal person to market our services to those agencies."

Bakke spent five years working with the public relations firm of Levenson, Levenson and Hill in Dallas, before going into private practice. He also spent five years as a researcher for executive search firms, seeking qualified candidates for placement with many of the world's leading financial firms.

He worked for United Press International for 25 years in its Chicago, Springfield, Des Moines, New York, Atlanta, and Dallas bureaus. Bakke, who grew up in Thief River Falls, MN, wrote a national energy column and served as news editor for UPI's Southern and Southwest divisions. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota.
